DotA 2 > LoL
I dream one day DotA 2 will replace LoL. :3
Just wait until DotA 2 is officially released, it is still invite-only.
I strongly believe that DotA 2 will be more popular, because, let's face it, Riot Games is nothing compared to Valve in the current state of the industry. Also, Valve has Ice Frog.
LoL might survive as a MOBA for casuals, but pro player (especially rapidly growing Asian scene) have more respect for DotA and will certainly be moving to DotA 2, especially after those recent scandals surrounding Riot Games.
Just to remind you what scandals I am talking about, Riot Games wanted to sign exclusivity contracts with multiple eSports organizations, so if they want their LoL team to compete in Riot's pro league they have to disband their DotA/HoN teams. They dropped it after SirScoots, the manager of EG organization, went public with it.
Also, Riot's World Championship Season 2 playoffs were a disgrace, organization wise. The even itself had to be delayed few hours because players had sun in their eyes. The LoL client has no LAN or save game feature, so the game relies on the internet connection which failed numerous times, causing multiple games to be restarted. Also, the big screens were clearly visible from players seats (so they could see what is other team doing, even if they aren't supposed to), and players could hear the crowd.
And for the Valve's event, I'll let this article talk for me.
Oh, and no, I am neither paid by Valve nor a Valve's fanboy.
