Like these games and would say the best is Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 (for those who just want pure action and fun + nice graphic)
and Need For Speed shift2 unleashed (for those who like the more realistic experience also real nice graphic)
ps: really love them both myself, so cant say which one is the best ^^
Edit/Note: i have played all the gran-turismo series and really had my doubt on shift2 unleashed but can almost garantee it will make you positive supriced :)
NFS UG2 and Carbon.
every NFS up untill (and including) 'Underground 2' where all top-tier games and without a doubt the best Racing games out there.
every NFS after that has been COMPLETE shit

I've really only played 2 of the titles, Hot Pursuit and World. World was pretty fun for the most part, and I'd go back to playing it if my laptop could handle it properly.
My opinion agrees with you. But I mostly like Undercover. It's my favorite NFS game. The number one of all racing games is Undercover (like I prevously said, in my opinion).
