I agree, and also don't understand why CA's thread was locked. The "ideas for 1.9.4" thread was fair enough, but in future could you please explain why you're locking the thread, when you post that you're going to?

I was thinking about doing this but PM'd Kas instead, tho he seems to have left shortly after.

But those volumetric ladders would be a godsend in certain situations. I can think of some pretty crezzy things that could be done by parenting them to blocks...

Ladders in this game dramatically slow the game down so much, that it's actually worth building a ramp up compensating for the slow climb time.

We are not putting anything else into 194, therfore these threads are just occupying space and serve no purpose. Perhaps a lock wasn't necesary, but the reasoning behind it was made perfectly clear however warranted it may have been. Stop recreating threads and suggestions that you have been told multiple times stand 0% chance of inclusion.

Geez, are you guys listening? Has anyone said this is for 194? No.

Also the reason ladders slow gameplay down so much right now is b/c they're the hl2 style func_usableladder not the hl1 style func_ladder... hence this suggestion. We all agree that ladders as they stand now are useless, which is why we're trying to suggest this improvement for a future version, not this future version.

Sure I did! He mentioned the wrong thing, so I clarified what he had said. Also afai can tell from reading Black's post the lock was on the 194 thread, not the idea of volumetric ladders.

I've always been argumentative. There's no "as of late" about it. If you'll be so kind as to notice I try not to insult people since my bans, though.



N E wai, to specify some more:

Current ladders: one single line of ladder, have to jump or +use to get off if you aren't near a mapper-specified exit point.

Proposed ladders: a volume (more than 1 person wide/deep/long), to get off all you have to do is move out of the volume.

I was under some bizarre impression that this was a building game and you're supposed to build stuff like ramps. What the hell was I ever thinking? Put in the ladders, screw building ramps!
