Default Randomly crashing

I have been crashing a lot when playing Sf with other people.
It started about two weeks ago. Sometimes I can play for a minute before crashing. Sometimes I can play for over an hour with no problems at all. Sometimes it happens in build phase when there are only two or three other people playing. Other times it doesn't happen until it's a full server with several people on each team shooting rockets at each other. It never happens when I create a server myself no matter how many blocks I spawn and SLAMs I explode.
I'm at a total loss. I haven't reinstalled yet, but I think I may have to. I just wanted to check here before I go through that to see if anyone else has had a similar problem. I hate reinstalling.

I am on 1.9.3 right now. It has been working fine since I upgraded it a month ago.

Define crash. It's hard to know how to help if you're not more specific. Does HL2 wreck itself? Does your system throw a BSOD or reboot? What error dialogs (if any) are displayed. Have you tried the standard stuff (driver updates, check Steam cache integrity, etc.)? Sounds like network driver updates or router firmware might help, but it's hard to say without knowing what your network setup is.

Sorry, it's just hl2.exe crash. The game freezes and does the repetitive sound thing for a few seconds, then it disappears and I get the windows dialog that says "hl2.exe encountered an error and had to shut down."

I was thinking it may have something to do with my ping. I notice it more often on non-North American servers.

My friend had this before. I know he uninstalled and reinstalled sourceforts, but I think he might have also uninstalled and reinstalled hl2dm too.
