Problem with your Sourceforts Mod? This may help! (2008)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q#1: The Steam Account does not own this game?
A#1: Your Steam Account does not own one or more of the specific games/tools required to play Sourceforts. (See below)
Halflife 2 DEATHMATCH.
SOURCE SDK BASE.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q#2: I bought the Orange Box, but I still get the "Steam Account Does Not Own This Game" Error.
A#2: While it's true that the Orange Box includes a Source Games, which will include Source SDK Base. It does not include HALFLIFE 2 DEATHMATCH. Once again required to play Sourceforts.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q#3: I received Halflife 2 DEATHMATCH with a Nvidia/ATI promotion offer. I still can't play Sourceforts!
A#3: The Nvidia/ATI Promotion offers, do include Halflife 2 DEATHMATCH. Yet they do not include Source SDK BASE. Which is required to play Sourceforts.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q#4: Is there anything I can do to get the required games?
A#4: There are a few small tricks you can pull. Read On.If you own a Source Based Game, For example Halflife 2 or TeamFortress 2. You already have the Source SDK BASE. If one of your friends, or family members have a spare gift* copy of Halflife 2 DEATHMATCH. Get them to gift it to you. You will now meet both requirements to play Sourceforts.
If you own Halflife 2 DEATHMATCH from a Nvidia/ATI promotion offer. Try purchasing a cheap Source Game. For example Halflife 2. You could even try to get some one to gift another Source game to you. Which in the end will get you Source SDK BASE. Allowing you to play Sourceforts.
*(Gift games occur when some one purchases a game package, when they already own the game purchased. For example If some one buys Halflife 2 Deathmatch. Then proceeds to buy the Valve All in one game package, they will have a duplicate of Halflife 2 DEATHMATCH. Giving them the option to gift the duplicate to some one who does not have the game.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q#5: How do I check if I Own Source SDK BASE?
A#5: If it is not already installed, the SDK Base should automatically install the first time you try to run SourceForts. If you would like to verify that you own this software, do the following:- Open up your Steam window by double clicking the Steam tray icon.
- In the My Games view click the "Tools" tab.
- If you see Source SDK BASE installed, or the option to install it, congratulations! you own Source SDK BASE.
After verifying that you have the SDK Base, you require only Halflife 2 DEATHMATCH to play Sourceforts. (Just remember to run Halflife 2 DEATHMATCH and Source SDK BASE to activate and create the right files, before trying to Install/Play Sourceforts)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q#6: My Sourceforts exits and crashes back to Desktop, once I try to play.
A#6: ---->DOWNLOAD<---- If problems persist move on to the next Question.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q#7: My Sourceforts Still crashes upon start up, after trying the above download link.
A#7: ---->CRASHFIX<---- (Once Downloaded, browse to your Bin folder in the Sourceforts Mod folder.)
For example: D:\ProgramFiles\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\sourcef orts\bin
Then put the files from the crash fix in this Bin folder. (Replace any files if asked to.)------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q#8: How do I purchase Half-Life 2: Deathmatch?
A#7:There are a number of packages available for purchase through Steam that include Deathmatch. Be sure that if you do not already have the Source SDK Base (see above), you select a package that also includes the SDK Base.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q#9: I use a BT HOME HUB, I heard there are problems connecting to the Steam Game Servers using these. (I cannot connect or I time out upon connecting to servers, above "Sending Client Info". Or Time out upon join a few seconds in.)
A#9: To fix the BT HOME HUB issues use this thread: "FIXING BT HOME HUB PORTS".
