Engine Error: Could not load library client
^^^.
CTD one second after intro video finishes.
On numerous source mods. Not sure if it's like that for SF ATM. But it is for Zombie Master, Insurgency, as well as others.
EDIT: Don't have that problem with SF, but pretty much all other mods I do.

Things are not going well for you are they? Are you having generalized system instability (random apps crashing, bluescreens, etc.)? If that's the case, then you really ought to back up what you can and scan for disk errors, viruses, etc., because it seems you have a pretty broad problem. If the problem is isolated to Source games, then you should bite the bullet and reinstall Steam, along with all your games. If the disk is fine, the reinstall does not deliver a fix, and you're not overclocking or running pirated games, then I'm at a loss. You might be looking at a Windows reinstall; you could always try reinstalling the latest rev of DirectX9, but System File Protection should have detected any problem there. Good luck, in any case

Well, like I said, with my comp, anything in the land of wtFUCKery and weird errors goes.
I'm going to get a different (not new, but better than this one) comp in a few weeks...I guess I should just bite it and reinstall steam.
But my account will still be there right? All I have to do is just redownload my games?
And Disturber, thank you SO MUCH for helping me out with this.
It's people like you that give people with comp problems the will to fix them.

File > Settings > Ingame
Disable steam community ingame.
If you haven't already of course - I had a similar error a long time ago, and that fixed it. The stranger thing was that after loading up the game with it turned off, I could then close the game, turn it back on, and everything worked fine.
Steam is strange.
And yes, if you reinstall steam, you still keep your account - but you will loose all your game GCFs so you'll have to do a bit of downloading.

Thanks guys!
EDIT: No dice, same exact error.
Wow.
This is one of the reasons why console gaming is so appealling...no errors at all...and if you do get one, it means that tons of others are also getting the same error, making the chances of it getting fixed quickly much higher.

Umm.....what....the....frick?
I just went to add/remove programs, removed Steam (though the Source SDK and SDK base were separate programs, I didn't remove them). And then redl'd and reinstalled it. Strangely enough, ALL of my games and mods were still there, 100% ready, and still the same errors.

You tried disabling steamfrieds UI as Khuskan recommended, yes?
Well then I'd say if windows is fully patched, your antivirus is up-to-date and gives a clean scan, and a full chkdsk (minus free space checks, but with auto-fix enabled) comes up with no issues, then you want to remove HL2 : DM and Base SDK from inside Steam, then reinstall, then try to load DM, then reinstall SF. Obviously, you'll want to back up configs for any games you reinstall.
Not sure why you got the uninstall weirdness earlier, could be that steam uninstall leaves the game GCFs until you uninstall the individual games via Add/Remove

That is because you removed only the program, steam, itself. Not the games. To completely remove anything related to steam, you have to first remove it from the control panel and after that navigate to the program files and remove the remainders, the steam folder.
Personally, I haven't ever reinstalled my steam so I'm not 100% sure about this.

to save a while downloading the steam files to your new computer there is a back up option in hammer which backs up all your content (or what you select) then put the files on your new computer install steam and run the exe then your set.

You can do this in Steam without the SDK / Hammer. The problem here is that reinstalling will hopefully fix corrupted files / settings. If you restore the same corrupted files, then you're not fixing the problem. The backup feature in steam is a good solution to back up game content (which is often far too large to consider including in conventional backups), and can certainly be used to restore a clean install if problems arise, but I'm not sure it's a great idea to use it if you're already having problems.
