Cascading Stylesheets and Telefrags |
 |
|
It would seem that nothing has really been going on with SourceForts, but this is terribly
wrong. Much has been occurring. The main bug fix in v1.9.2 will be the spawn bug.
No longer will telefragging be an issue. As well, we are balancing out the engineer's
overly powerful shotgun. Also, we will be optimizing the block models and skins in order
to achieve maximum performance because as many of you know, SourceForts games can be killer
on the frames per second.
On a different note, the website is going to be replaced soon. The current site is rather
amateurish in its design. This is because of its use of tables for layout purposes. The
new site will be much more compact and take full advantage of its CSS / Div (Not Counter-Strike: Source)
layout. Once the new site is launched, the league will finally be ready for real competitive play.

v1.9.1 Released! |
 |
|
After months of hard work from the entire team, we are proud to present SourceForts v1.9.1, filled with numerous bug fixes and enhancements.
Notably, classes have been rebalanced to normalize gameplay. Builders have been renamed
to engineers and are now able to use blocks as shields while crouching, as well as heal
other players. Class limits are now in place, and the crash and spawning bugs are both
finally fixed. We've added a couple new maps and some new media.
To download the full version of the game, head over to the
downloads page. Check below for a full
changelog, as well as some in-game screenshots of the staff in action. Also, if
you are looking for SourceForts' wonderful new theme song, you may download it
here. Enjoy!

Boy, Oh Boy, Do We Got Some Splainin' To Do |
 |
|
The last week has been hectic... to say the least. Our server un-explainable and un-expectable failed on us leaving us without a webpage. Fortunately Voltaire stepped up and purchased a server from which we are now running. Not everything is 100% smoothed out, so if you find something wrong just contact one of the staff members.
Thanks for sticking with us this whole time. One more thing, this has delayed the release of v1.9.1, but we are still working as hard as we can to get a stable 1.9.1 out the door.

SourceForts Delayed |
 |
|
Due to a re-release of our main rival, Neoforts in such close proximity to our current release date, as well as unforeseeable errors that were apparently left in the source code when nick departed, we have been forced to push the date back two months until 1st June 06.
We do not wish to release the mod as close to Neoforts as it currently is, as we do not want to be seen as to be making a 'direct attack' on Nicks mod. As all the staff, including myself, are good friends with Nick, we believe it only to be polite to delay our mods' release as to allow Neoforts the full audience it deserves. This also follows written requests from Mods Online and FileFront as not to rise any confliction between rival mods on their websites, to prevent abuse of their systems.
However, this does have its' benefits. The extra two months will allow us to program a final class into 2.0, a variation on the sniper that instead of firing regular bullets, fires cylindrical spiked objects using a weapon known as the C.A.C.T.I. (Cylindrical Assault and Cover Tactical Instrument). This will allow players to bounce shots round walls, lay deadly traps on floors using the raw ammunition, and, with the rope attachment, grapple up enemy teams panels.
I, on behalf of the team, apologise for the delay, and hope that the situation will be rectified as soon as possible.
April Fools. :D

Site Revamp |
 |
|
The new website is up. Although visually it is the same as the previous incarnation,
everything is much better organized with the new site. There is no need to navigate
to a separate webpage in order to access the forums and league.
The league has been completely re-coded from the ground up. It is much more efficient.
It should be noted that the league is still in beta, and that you should report any bugs
to tStieff@CgStud.com.

Staff Re-Convening and Media Bonanza |
 |
|
Our beloved project leader and coder, James “jlf” Freedmen has decided to leave the
SourceFort's team due to complications in his life. That being said, coder Voltaire
has picked up where jlf left off and is already well on his way to pumping out a patch
for v1.9.0. - which will iron out crash, spawn, and telefrag bugs.
Rest assured, we have been hard at work on SourceForts v1.9.1 and v2.0.0.
FictiousWill has been pumping out maps like there's no tomorrow. He has also been
hard at work on setting up some of the v2.0.0 weapons in-game, which you can check
out below.
I myself have been working on the brand new SourceForts Community website. The
new site should clear up all of the problems that arose due to the current site.
The new design is based off of the current one, but is much cleaner all around.
The forums will be fully functional once again. I have also been working on a map,
sf_city, which I hope to finish by the time v1.9.1 is released.
Here is the media you have so frantically been waiting to get your hands on.

SourceForts v1.9.0 Released |
 |
|
SourceForts v1.9.0 is now available to the general public. Following months of
uncertainty, we are now able to provide our gameplay in a stable environment, and
with Linux compatibility. You can download it from the
downloads page. Enjoy!
It should be noted that SourceForts v1.4.2 maps are not compatible with
this new version - we have re-designed the mod from the ground up. We are working
with the community to help them convert map as quickly as possible.
