Well I agree.

Am I the only one that wholeheartedly agrees with Reverend Jeremiah Wright on this certain issue?
Hate speech? Fuck you.

I agree.
America is the bully on the playground, we push everyone around, but the second someone throws a hand full of dirt at us we start crying. Honestly, we got what was coming to us.

If saying "you deserved to die for what someone else did" isn't hate speech, I don't know what is.
America is a nation founded on the ideal that each person is free to choose their own path, their own beliefs, and their own way of life. No ones ideals, not even those of the president of the united states, our public figurehead as a nation, comes anywhere close to representing the beliefs of the entire nation.
With that, how can you honestly believe that those people deserved to die for something they did not support? How can you honestly say you or I deserve to die for that?
Was it the firefighters and police officers that went in to save the lives of others who bombed japan? Were they the ones that put those dictators into power? Were they the ones that promoted attacks against Palestine? Keep in mind, many of those men weren't elegible to vote in the elections that brought those circumstances about.
Consider this situation: you were born 5 years earlier, and out of college you landed a job that put you in the WTC. You were psyched; you just got your first job, not a year ago you voted in your first election, voted 3rd party because the other candidates were corrupt idiots. You'd never even thought abut racism, you were an ideal citizen in every way. 9/11 comes along, you die, trapped with so many like you.
But of course, you deserved it, because you were a racist bigot who wanted to bomb the japanese, put dictators into power in Africa, and supported attacks on palestine, right?

Hold on there, sparky. He only said America brought 9/11 on itself, not that America deserved it.

Actually, if you listened carefully, the quote didn't say exactly where he was going with it. It ends with "...and now we are indignant?" thus leaving out the full context of the quote.
Of course, that brings up an interesting point. (unless you'd heard the whole quote before) neither of us knew which he was referring to, yet we both took different stances.
I personally took a negative stance because rev wright seems so keen on criticizing the "white man" (which is effectively me, male caucasian of voting age) for things neither I or anyone in my family took part in. My family is largely Irish-catholic, and immigrated to america only about 3 generations ago, yet mr. Wright seems perfectly content grouping me in with "the white man" and blaming me for things like slavery and minority oppression. With that, it's not too much of a stretch for me to believe he's not doing the same here.
What keeps me sane is that I remember I only dislike him for it, not those whom he claims to represent.
