Agreed. If a player can't join a game because of a reserve slot, then the server shouldn't allow them to connect at all. It's incredibly poor programming (not to mention manners) to allow a client to load a map only to autokick them upon loading completion.

When I encounter a server that does this, I generally try to remember it and never come back again.

I think xforts has a kick/immunity reserve slot system.

It is entirely possible to configure the server so the reserved slot is never visible. People just suck at configuring their servers.

Yes.

It is possible to have 20/20 players, and still let certain steam_id's join. I just don't know how since I've never ran a server so I never looked into it.

I've never figured out how to do that.

I've wanted to use reserve slots but I know how annoying it is to join but then be kicked so I didn't use them. (and how you can't use autojoin).
