Default linux server won't run

Alright, so I just finished installing the server files onto my harddrive in the main steam directory (X:/steam/sourceforts) and I tried running the server and got the following message:

Quote:
sudo ./srcds_run -console -game sourceforts -port 27015 +map sf_magma +maxplayers 10
Auto detecting CPU
Using SSE2 Optimised binary.
Server will auto-restart if there is a crash.
AppFramework : Unable to load module bin/engine_i686.so!
Unable to load interface VEngineCvar003 from bin/engine_i686.soSat Oct 11 15:03:10 EDT 2008: Server Quit
I have already installed hl2mp & valve, in addition to other servers and I am currently download cs-source as we speak. Also all of the folders and readable, I already chmod-ed everything. Any thoughts?

Explain everything, and to what privileges.

Edit: There is no magma in 194 by default. Unless you put it there manually.

by everything, I mean all of the folders in the steam directory (hl2, hl2mp, orangebox, bin, etc). Since it said :

Quote:
AppFramework : Unable to load module bin/engine_i686.so!
I figured maybe it can't access that file in bin, so I was following a guide on another webpage of how to set up a regular Steam server in linux. I used:

Quote:
sudo chmod -R 755 *folder*
for each of the folders. Curiosity question, would the fact that I am downloading the files for cstrike from the steam updating tool right now have anything to do with it? Cause I got a zombie panic source server running no problem before.

first of all, lolwut sudo on a server, second, you don't need to chmod anything, you should leave everything alone, so i would just scrap it as a whole and re-hldsupdatetoolbin, choose hl2mp, download sourceforts server files into a seperate directory, and it should run.

never seen this error, mind posting your cpuinfo? that's the only problem i can think of, it's either you're running the wrong architecture (trying to run x86 on x64), or trying to run a server on a cpu that lacks SSE, but i'm pretty sure you just mixed shit up. make sure you are not mixing up games, you should have a directory with hl2mp and sourceforts server files only.

Best to use windows servers becasue Valve is crap at linux coding, they often release updates that mess up linux servers e.g for months the crowbar swing was slower than the stunstick.

except for the slight fact that a windows server is in fact a windows server.

Irrelevent when valve is coding the game.
For best game performance all HL2DM and HL2DM based mods servers should be
Windows and 66tick

You use it to play the game.
No wndows doesnt fail its Valve that fails at linux.
I would much rather use linux but its more beneficial using windows.
