Experimental anti-RJ design
As the title says. What it would be is not just a method to stop rocketeers, but to catch them in a v-trap. There is a gapless layer of vertical or slightly leaned outward 2x3s, as standard. The next layer, however, is horizontal 2x3s at a >45 angle, so as to make a vtrap with the front layer. This second layer is not visible from the other side, however. You make this second layer high enough off the ground so that you can repair the front layer on the bottom edge if need be. At the top of the second layer you put horizontal 1x5s to act both as a catwalk (for clearing out trapped rocketeers) and to serve as additional height against sprinting scouts if the first layer is removed. This would only require 31/30 block per unit, so only 1/30th more as compared to the standard 1 block per unit.
Could someone try this out and let me know how it worked? My connection speed here sucks too much to build something this complicated.

I wanted to know how well it did in combat, not just theoretical. And I have to go to class in <15 minutes.
edit: pic in a sec
edit: no time to start up SF, so here is a crappy paint representation:

Would only work against the crappiest of RJers.

Nice try, but after getting caught once, even the worst RJers would stand on the front wall and jump over the trap.
Points for trying though.

It wouldn't be very practical, true. But it would be so damn hilarious. That's also why I tried to design it to work as a standard wall as well. And it still makes it harder to RJ by requiring them to stop on top of the wall. By that time they are at fairly low health, and you get some advance warning of them coming in rather than just a guy flying over the wall into your base proper. IDK. That's why it's experimental.

Hmm... I now had some time so I set up my server (Computeraddiction is back online!) and built a section using this technique.
Conclusion: either I'm really good at RJ or the design needs changes. I'm inclined to believe that a little of both is responsible. On my first attempt I rj'ed clean over the entire structure and out to the other side. I did notice, though, that if you turn the "catwalk" vertical and raise it half a block unit it stops rj'ers in midair and drops them into the trap. I also figured out that if you put the trap blocks at just the right distance from the wall you can create an RJ-access only flag drop (which also extends the catch range). I tried rj'ing from the base of the wall to see how standing on top of it would do, but the process takes a long time and anyone watching the wall can gun you down before you make the jump out.
Evaluation: design needs rework and/or scrapping

Dude, you rj'd over a vertical 2x3??? THAT'S FUCKING HACKS MAN!! NOBODY CAN DO THAT! Rj trap idea sucks ass. However, the rj only flag drop sounds cool (but would be practically useless).

Lagginator, shut the hell up. What I was saying was unusual was the distance I got on it. I almost went over the rail on the other side of the wall on skywalk. I'm pretty sure that once was a fluke, but eh.
I also never claimed it would be an ultra effective idea, I just said it would be embarrassing for the victim and hilarious for everyone else. If you don't like it, fine. I will point out, though, that it also serves the same function as a standard double layered wall, with a slight chance to catch rj'ers in a humiliating fashion.
