Any idea on how to fix this? All my drivers are updated, my videocard is fine, I'm just at a loss.
Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried installing updated video card drivers (from NVIDIA or from your vidcard manufacturer)? Do you get a similar error in other source games? Do you have SP2 installed? Post that along with the vidcard driver version. A lot of this info (and other useful stuff) is available in the DirectX Diagnostic (enter this at a Run prompt):
Code:
%systemroot%\system32\dxdiag.exe
You can run some tests under the Display tab as well.
Finally, if you're over-clocking any system component, stop and try again at a factory clock. Usually the system will seize if you're too aggressive with the OC, but cache misses and slight instability could theoretically interfere with the D3D driver stack.
