Default Game Crashes with no warning due to drive error

Sometimes when I play SF the game will just crash all of the sudden, with no warning.

Most of the time the sound will repeat a short while (3 seconds max) and then the game will close, followed by this message: Internal Drive error in IDirect3DDevice9::Present()

Any idea on how to fix this? All my drivers are updated, my videocard is fine, I'm just at a loss.

Any help would be appreciated.

OK, well here's a new error that just happened.

While the game was loading the menu:
the game crashes, and this pops up:
The instruction at “0x10203e2c” referenced memory at “0x0e39a1a0”. The memory could not be “read”. Click OK to terminate the program.

And now, the previously mentioned error is happening ALL the time, and the repeating sound only lasts about a second before crashing. I can't play more than a minute before it crashes.

Well, I have a nVidia 6200 AGP gfx card with 256 RAM.
I have 1 gig of RAM.
But the rest I don't know off the top of my head. I'll get it as soon as possible.
Thanks.

Have you tried installing updated video card drivers (from NVIDIA or from your vidcard manufacturer)? Do you get a similar error in other source games? Do you have SP2 installed? Post that along with the vidcard driver version. A lot of this info (and other useful stuff) is available in the DirectX Diagnostic (enter this at a Run prompt):
Code:
%systemroot%\system32\dxdiag.exe
You can run some tests under the Display tab as well.

Finally, if you're over-clocking any system component, stop and try again at a factory clock. Usually the system will seize if you're too aggressive with the OC, but cache misses and slight instability could theoretically interfere with the D3D driver stack.
