Default SourceForts V2: Weapons Teaser

Here are some pictures of the new pistol that will be used in SourceForts V2. We have quite a list to work through and we may flash a few more further down the road just to get you all salivating.

A technical rundown:
This is a double action/Single action retarded blowback operating gun. The entire frame is made from polymer with steel inserts for the slide and sliderail. It is capaple of single fire, 3 rounds burst or full auto depending on which trigger group is installed requiring adjustments to the safety/selector if changing from single round. The safety/selector is mounted on both sides of the frame for ambidexterity as well as an ejector port that allows for the extractor to be calibrated to eject either to the left or the right. The safety/selector lever also acts as the magazine release lever by pushing it down and all the way forward, a small but considerable effort in order to reduce cases of accidental release. When the pistol is out of rounds the magazine follower engages a slide stop for quick reloading whilst pressing the selector lever up past the safety mark releases the stop once a new magazine is in place making this a very simple to use and user friendly pistol. It is also fitted with a recoil reduction device to compensate whilst firing on full auto, a skilled shooter can often get 2-3 inch groups at 100 meters with little effort.

The above information may change prior to release.

Looks pretty nice... out of curiosity, do you have any normal map usage at all on that thing? too me the lighting looks textured on... Source can handle dyamic light casting with it's normal maps, no need to paint on the lighting, just let the normal maps do it.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOO...

Yes, very purdy.

So, right click will change between single/3-burst/auto firing? Neat.

It does have bump/normal mapping on it. Its quite obvious. The grip panel on the slide and the grip itself, all of the Lockng Pins, the black surfaces are all very subtely bumpmapped to give the grainy everwear look that you see on binoculars and things, indents for the frame markings... oh, and the bullets are bumpmapped too with the words "SourceFortsV2" embossed on the striking cap.

There are two reasons you may think its not bumpmapped. One is that the grip of the pistol lying down has the lower edge lit caused by a refraction from the surface of the wall. The other is that this is a rendered image with the bumpmapping applyed and Ive done it well enough that you cant tell... which is the point .

Great to see more stuff from v2. The pistol sets a nice standard for the other weapons (which I assume are still being worked on).

Is this the ingame version, or a higher quality render from the modelling program?
