New server
Well I am planning to make a server (and its my first time so bare with me). Well I am planning to make a build only server which means that the build phase never changes unless a admin toggles the phase or map (is this possible to achieve in anyway?). Also is it possible to automatically move all players to one team unless switched by an admin?

Yes it should be possible as far as i know, however, why not go play garrys mod?

Build a few things every so often when you dont feel like battling it out, then eventually u will have a base, then u can have a battle in one of those what if moments. Also I want to make this server cause of the amount of people with an inability to build, it would be an easy low pressure way of learning (as there is allot of time to work with).

to be honest, people with a lot of blocs will just build stuff, they have plenty of blocs, why bother building right. They don't learn how to use as less possible blocs for a precise purpose. see optimization...
look at people playing on xenon's servers, most of them build ramps walls. Even people playing for at least 6 months.
I understand they can have fun doing that, but staying mediocre isnt fun.
get a gmod server going on with this combat plugin

you should probrably just play gmod and import the sf blocks (i believe you can get it as an addon) (though they might be the old dimensions)
if you really want sf then look into the sourcemod plugins. catch events of changeteam and (i think you can catch) togglephase. forcing a team/ blocking changing teams i think is in the examples/tutorials. for the phase change though you can just set from the server config to make the build phases to be epically long and the combat to be 0 or 1 second long so it never actually happens (you might end up with weird bugs or a crashed server if you have a 0 length phase)
but 4srs. as much as i would like to see more ppl in sf (or rather just move xenon nubs to their own special place) gmod is the way to go here

Fair point, this was the main one I was thinking about. In sf I generally build more than I fight as well if I wanted to fight I would be playing deathmatch

SourceForts is not about building or fighting on their own merits, I wish people would learn that. I've always seen it as a meld of the two, which made it such an intriguing concept.

Personally I I like to make the best base I possibly can ..then start combat. Making poor bases an winning/losing doesn't feel like an great achievement otherwise. Its like when beign a kid and making the best lego fort u could and havig a little roleplay ect but this time you get to use it (good analogy or not?)
