Clans
Well, obviously Forts is the perfect game for clans. I mean, teamwork in making forts is such a huge factor, and then the gamemode is CTF.
So, I have a few questions. First, I know there are clans out there (because I have seen people say they are in them) but how many? And what are they? If you are in a SF Clan, please list it here, it'd be nice to get a little compilation.
Secondly, has anyone set up a league yet? Or rather a tournament? I mean, if there's only like three clans with enough ppl, it would be pointless, but if there are ten or so clans then we could set up a good league. If there are enough clans, anyone wanna try to get a tournament/league going?

I had been thinking about the idea of a clan. Not enough dedicated players/servers yet.

Right now i pretty much have a mini clan, i have a friend down the hall who has the game and like to play. Now if i can convince the other two people in the dorm who like to play source fort's on my pc to buy half-life 2, then I would have a clan [3d2toy]-

Need to get the nasty "bounce" bug sorted first... and a linux server!

Well, as for there not being enuf ppl, what? Lol, for a mod this thing is pretty active. Sure, it's not a counterstrike or a desert combat or a Bid for Power, but as far as the HL2 modding community goes, it's on up there (other than official mods I think Sourceforts is #3 or so right?). Granted, the HL2 modding community is sparse right now, but I think this prominence will increase as the HL2 community does.
Err, to get to the point, there's plenty of people, I would think. There's usually a good # of ppl online, and that's only a fraction of those who play (I'm sure there's an equation to figure that out, anyone know it?)
As for the bounce, I actually don't see it too much. How common is it? Well, anyway, I would think clanmatches would be something like best score after three rounds or so, right? I wouldn't think there'd be too high of a chance of it cropping up during that. If it did, then there would need to be a rematch. But that's no problem, I mean it IS a FUN game.
Oh, and an official SourceForts League, that would rock. I was thinking of all the trouble of having to get enough ppl doing it myself, but I don't think it'd be bad at all if Knifa put his seal of approval on it. That would be excellent. Then (if he didn't mind) the stats, rankings, etc could be on the main site, gives it some validity (or in a seperate SFL forum).
Lol, I'm assuming sF stands for source Fort? Hehe, that's not too original :P

I've played competitive CS for years, and I used to play competitive UT and Tribes 1/2 way back. If SourceForts can work out the bad netcode, and tweak the weapon damage a bit, it might be a semi-decent game for leagues.
Of course, good competition wont emerge until more people start playing, and more dedicated servers start going up that are local to interested players. Right now, at best I can usually get 70-90 ping to a small server, and that's not acceptable for league play, especially given the bad netcode.
The game needs to be developed and polished more to even be considered for competitive play. At this point, it's fun, but just too sloppy for leagues.

Dude, I played in an Australian CZ clan for quite a while, and I had a 200+ ping. Nobody hassled me though, cause I owned them all. I was the elite 200 pinger. Anyway, I guess what I am trying to say is, ping isn't everything, its how you play the game.
