It's just the way people learn to sing...
They don't use certain parts of their vocal chords when they sing that they use when they talk.
Easy example is Kaidus' band, Overture.

Can you tell he's from the UK? Do you think he's honestly trying to sing like most Americans talk? (most, unless you have a southern accent... they're pretty obvious)
