Betatesting application begins!
I am pleased to announce that we are now going to be accepting beta testing applications for SF 1.9.3! All current beta testers will have to reapply to insure that you suit our new beta testing conditions. We need 20-40 dedicated SF players with varying levels of skill and familiarity with the game to play test both casual play and competitive level play for our final releases. As well as to preform intermediate feature play tests for new game play mechanics we want to evaluate for future inclusion.
Please mail your beta testing application to our official beta testing email address,
On your application answer the following questions:
Name (firstname [alias] lastname):
SteamID (that will be used for play testing):
Age:
How often would you be available for play testing?:
What SF communities have you belonged to in the past?:
What is your current SF clan? (if applicable):
What is your past SF clanning experience? (if applicable):
What is your past Gaming competitive experience? (if applicable):
Do you have any past play testing experience? (if so, where?):
If you were to describe your familiarity with the source engine how well would you say you are acquainted with it? (Do you understand how bhopping works, physics glitches, rates, svars, cvars?):
Please answer accurately, if significant inaccuracies are found it will most likely result in you being blacklisted from testing, or terminated from your position as play tester if found after you've been appointed.
Thanks guys, I hope to see you in testing!

If I could politely ask people to spend more then just 30 seconds on these things...
Seriously, you're trying to sell your selfs here, it doesn't do alot of my work for me when you leave things incredibly vague, shorten what should be at least a sentence into a few words, use unfamiliar acronyms or jargon, or just stop typing half way through a line (seriously someone was like "I was in this clan and then I went to", and then it just ended, nothing more)
It's beginning to look like I may need to run some interviews for certain people who have been too vague or just haven't provided enough information to base a decision off of for whatever reason (some of it is my fault, I don't know the history of every SF and CS clan ever :P), so keep an eye on your email boxes... (since it's the only way I can contact you being that I forgot to include a "contact info" section on the application form :P)
[edit] when filling out "past non SF competitive experience" it's more informative to me to estimate how many matches or scrims you've played then listing clan names I've never heard of. I'm trying to figure out what relative rank you've reached competitively elsewhere, your clan name might be cool, but it doesn't help me. "played 2 seasons in CAL-P CS" relays alot more information then "Was in the clan Cock crew [-=CC=-]!"
[edit2] This is not an invitation to PM me on IRC or the forums and fill me in on everything you forgot to put in your application. Resend another application form, if I get multiple I'll simply discard all the obsolete ones. I'm reviewing from the email box directly, so I can't amend your applications for you with you telling me info after the fact via a different channel.

Swift, if they aren't going to provide enough information on their application, what makes you think they will bother doing it for each and every bug report they have to write up, or each and every feature request?
If they don't take the time to fill it out properly then it reflects badly on themselves. Don't bother wasting your time interviewing them all.

I like you
I might not have the luxury of being quite that choosy though...
I knew I probably should have written or reposted one of my old "beta testing is not a privilege, it's a responsibility" lectures from somewhere, but it slipped my mind until just now... Maby I'll find one to copy here later.

I remember sending in my application when Yahoo called for beta testers to reapply.
We never got anything to test!
But yeah, sent in.

On the other hand, if you don't send an application, we won't hire you, and then if we do start testing (we said we will, so ya...) then you won't be there.
