We are currently accepting proposal applications - deadline to apply is Oct. 29, 2010.  Click on the links below for further information and the application packet.

One year pilot proposals for clinical, translational and innovative technology will be accepted from investigators at UCSD, Rady Children's Hospital, SDSU, LIAI, Salk, Burnham, and J. Craig Venter Institute, eligible to be principal investigators under the policies of their respective organizations.  UCSD PIs must have a fulltime faculty appointment.

Proposals for community seed grants will be accepted from investigators in the community or from agencies in the community seeking to perform clinical studies with limited prior experience.

Review of the proposals will be conducted by a panel of internal and external scientists working in translational research. The review priorities include: 1) significance of the research and its translational relevance; 2) scientific quality; 3) feasibility; 4) probability that the work will yield important new information, technology or service; 5) qualifications of the principal investigator and collaborators.

Pilot Proposals are now being solicited for the following types of pilot awards:

Pilot Clinical Studies   Up to $25,000 per award
Pilot Translational Studies   Up to $25,000 per award
Pilot Innovative Technology Projects   Up to $50,000 per award
Seed grants for community researchers   Up to $5,000 per award

Please apply through the program component most closely aligned with the proposal; i.e., Clinical Studies, Translational Studies, Innovative Technology or Community Seed Grants. Only one proposal per investigator will be accepted.
