 Draft San Luis Valley Reiongal Habitat Conservation Plan and Envioronmental Assessment 

The Rio Grande Water Conservation District (District) announces the upcoming publication and distribution of the Draft San Luis Valley Regional Habitat Conservation Plan and Environmental Assessment (Draft HCP/EA).  The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) has published a Notice of Availability (NOA) for the documents in the Federal Register on July 25, 2012. Verification Testing and Instillation of Totalizing Flow Meters on Can Pumps or Pivots

Subdistrict #1 is requesting a verification test for totalizing flow meters installed on can pumps or center pivots utilizing surface water. If a meter is installed on water being pumped by a can pump from a reservoir or ditch system; please advise your tester to use the attached form by clicking here.  If the meter is installed on a pivot to measure both surface water and groundwater together please contact the Division of Water Resources to insure compliance.  Click here to read the letter submitted to all local well testers and  click here for a list of certified well testers.

Substitute Water Supply Plan

Annual Replacement Plan Update

A Status Conference took place on Friday June 8th, 2012 at 9:00 A.M. at the Division III Water Court at which two dates were derived; the next Status Conference on Retained Jurisdiction and Pre-Trial Conference on Retained Jurisdiction.  The dates can be seen below in the Upcoming Events.  

A tentative trial on the retained jurisdiction on the approval and inadequacy of the ARP has been set for October 29th, 2012 to November 2nd, 2012. The trial is set to take place at the Division III Water Court located at the Alamosa County Court house at 702 4th Street in Alamosa.

Report on Annual Public Hearing October 11, 2011

The Board of Managers of Subdistrict No. 1 of the Rio Grande Water Conservation District held its annual public hearing on its proposed budget for 2012 at the Carson Auditorium on the Adams State campus.  Also discussed were the fees to be charged for 2012 pumping within Subdistrict No. 1.  Click Here To Read More
