Ben Loyola for Virginia Senate

November 10, 2011

Friends,

What a great experience this has been.

Tuesday’s elections had so much all of us can take pride in, from the record-setting Republican majority in the House of Delegates to the 20-20 tie in the Senate where our great Lt. Governor Bill Bolling will be there to break the ties.

We can be proud of what we accomplished.  The past few months knocking on doors, meeting voters, attending events and listening to your concerns I wouldn’t trade for the world.  I’ve grown through this experience, and I truly thank all of you for everything you’ve done to help our efforts.  Thank you to all our volunteers who made phone calls, canvassed neighborhoods and did so much work and helped us in so many ways.  From the Eastern Shore, to Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Mathews County, you did a fantastic job.

What a positive experience this election has been.  I met literally thousands of Virginians who truly care about the future of Virginia and everything Republicans are doing to give a positive vision contrary to what we see in Washington.  We knew we had an uphill battle against an entrenched incumbent in a redrawn district, but I am proud of our campaign and our message and we are all winners in that respect.

Congratulations to all candidates, including my opponent, who offered themselves for public service at the state and local level.  Running for office isn’t all glamour, friends.  It takes a toll on family and on business, and those who commit to that sacrifice in either party deserve a measure of respect.

For me, I pledge to stay engaged and involved in helping the greatest state in the greatest country in the world.  You haven’t seen the last of Ben Loyola.

I’d like to share one last thing.

Gretchen and I learned recently that we’ve been blessed with our second child, due in June of next year.  So, our daughter Isabel will have a playmate.

Thank you again for your hard work, your financial support and your prayers.  I hope to see you again real soon.
