Permanent changes to the roadway network on Carlton Avenue and Pacific Street beginning on or around September 24, 2012

As part of the transportation improvements related to the Atlantic Yards project, beginning on or around September 24, 2012, weather permitting, the following permanent changes will be made to the roadway network:

Carlton Avenue (between Atlantic Avenue and Pacific Street only) will re-open to vehicular traffic as a two-way roadway. Vehicles will be able to access this block from eastbound and westbound Atlantic Avenue and will be able to make left and right turns from Carlton Avenue onto Atlantic Avenue at this location.

Directly following the reopening of Carlton Avenue, Pacific Street (between Carlton Avenue and Sixth Avenue only) will change from one-way westbound to a two-way roadway.

05/16/12 Attention Residents and Neighbors:

Empire State Development and Brooklyn Community Boards 2, 6 & 8 invite the community to a meeting on the Barclays Center Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Plan. (The proprosal aims to reduce vehicular traffic to the arena and minimize the effects of the cars that do come.)

Representatives of  the developer will make a presentation and answer questions.

Taking place: Tuesday, May 22 at 6 PM, at Brooklyn Borough Hall (209 Joralemon St.)

For the week ending July 29, there were a total of 1104 workers building Atlantic Yards. The daily average was 880 workers. 656 were New York City residents, with 256 from Brooklyn and 85 from the four community boards adjacent to the project. As of this morning at 9 am, the Carlton Avenue Bridge is open. On or around Thursday, September 27, Pacific Street between Carlton and Sixth Avenues will open.

The latest two-week construction look-ahead has been posted by ESDC.
September 10, 2012
Removal of the grass strip on the north side of Pacific Street between 6th and Carlton Avenues will not be completed at this time, as had been reported in the previous Construction Alert, because of work related to the LIRR yard that will be performed January 2013 through December 2013. The sidewalk will be replaced in sections as the work progresses. In the interim, the area will be cleaned and replaced with mulch.

Median work at Carlton and Atlantic Avenues will begin on September 7th and will be completed during this reporting period. The MPT along Atlantic Avenue will be shifted to allow for median restoration work.

A soft opening of the station entrance is tentatively scheduled for on or about September 17th.
