IT Directory

Collected by: University of Oregon

Archived since: Nov, 2011

The IT Directory project originated when several faculty members commented that they found it difficult to locate appropriate educational technology support services. The IT Directory addresses this problem with a user-centered design that emphasizes non-technical terms and carefully developed category searching.

The project team worked with service providers and administrative offices to refine a list of service types and frequently asked questions. Information from service providers was then collected using a web-based survey form. The database structure and interface were designed by the UO Libraries Center for Educational Technologies (CET).

Players responded with over 1500 in-game stories, expressed in blogs, videos, phone calls, and images, that give WORLD WITHOUT OIL compelling depth and visceral realism. A serious game for the public good, the alternate reality game is being heralded as the first to engage the collective imagination of Internet users to confront a real-world problem - our dependence on oil. Science Colloquium: Energy in Transition

Collected by: University of Oregon

Archived since: Jan, 2012

Description:

This course is a collaborative project with the goal of understanding how past societies have adapted to widespread changes in their foods and fuels, and how our current society can learn from their successes and failures in the contemporary global energy context.

Part of our job is to determine which energy sources are currently in transition, and which are not; which are under pressure to be changed, what those pressures are, and how energy policy might work either to promote or to hinder these changes. We will be particularly interested in ways that groups of people make hard choices, or don't, in the face of energy scarcity.
