Description: The North Carolina Criminal Justice Information Network (CJIN) initiative is a project which will allow the sharing of information between state and local criminal justice agencies. The CJIN Study Committee was created during the 1994 Special Crime Session of the North Carolina General Assembly. A consulting firm was contracted to perform this study which was presented to the committee in April 1995. A CJIN study objective was developed which summarizes how this network should be developed. The study objective proposes "to identify alternatives for development of a statewide criminal justice information network that will enable a properly authorized user to readily access and effectively use information regardless of its location in national, state, and local databases."
