What is a Scenic Road?

A scenic road is much more than seeing pretty rocks and gorgeous vistas. Some are historic routes while others are parkways and byways. Also, some are state scenic roads while others are national. Substantial study and planning goes into the identification and designation of each scenic road.

Arizona has 27 scenic roads; each with their own features and characteristics. Each scenic road is covered in depth in this web site. Included are maps, photo tours, community links, and stories from people who visited and experienced these routes.

 

The scenic roads are divided geographically in Northern, North Central, Phoenix and Central, Tucson and Central, and Western regions of the state.
