Arizona Health-e Connection Nonprofit Convenes

March 20 E-Health Summit a Success

Arizona Health-e Connection Board of Directors recently held its first meeting as a nonprofit (501c3) organization. Convening this nonprofit was the next step in the implementation of the Roadmap for E-Health Connectivity that was commissioned by Governor Napolitano in October, 2005.

Arizona Health-e ConnectionAt the organizing meeting, the Health-e Connection nonprofit Board of Directors selected State CIO Chris Cummiskey and Dr. David Landrith from the Arizona Medical Association as its co-chairs. The Board also selected Sally Jeffcoat from Carondolet Health Network in Tucson as treasurer of the organization.

According to Cummiskey, “The nonprofit Health-e Connection organization will allow the State to move to the next level in its efforts to use technology to improve the quality and reduce the cost of health care in Arizona.”

One of the first action items of the new nonprofit was the March 20 Arizona Health-e Connection Summit. At the summit, approximately 400 attendees heard from national leaders in e-health innovation such as Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano, Dr. Robert Kolodner from the Federal Office of Coordinator on Health Information Technology, Dr. Roxanne Townsend, Deputy Director of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals and Janet Marchibroda from eHealth Initiative and Foundation.
