All 12 undocumented immigrants still remain in jail. This marks their 2nd day in jail for a protest in which they all publicly declared their status and refused to leave until Sen. Beason agreed to stop the hateful rhetoric against the community. We know change won't come easy. We know many of us, many of you, will need to put our lives on the line in order to get change. We also know we are dedicated to making it happen, the Obama administration can continue to lie to us, they tell us they aren't deporting people like those arrested yet when no one is watching they put us into deportation proceedings. However when we take action publicly, like the 13 arrested on Tuesday, they deny we exist. The last week here in Alabama has been amazing, so many people have reached out to us to voice their support for what we are doing. Many others have tried to silence us recognizing the power a truly undocumented and unafraid community poses. It is now time for us to come out even more. If you are undocumented it is your responsibility to come out. Like the 13 arrested publicly on Tuesday you too can be safe if you come out and organize in your community. Chip-in $25 to the undocumented bail fund There are going to be many more actions to come, some will end with us in deportation proceedings and others with us behind bars for many days. In the end though we are doing it on our own terms, if they put us in a detention center we'll organize inside just as well as we organize outside.
