the file names will control the order. point me to an item that is not in the order you want and tell me what order you want them in.

Oh I understand, you mean physical file names edited in the file manager, not names as can be edited in the metadata editor. That will anyway work fine I guess, thanks.
But just curious what the edit box for track number is in the metadata editor if it's not the playlist order?

But if the file names should have a number in front in order to sort them, it will look funny to also have the numbered list that comes in the player as well, so any option to switch that off?

that is where putting the track name in the edit item > change the information > file title comes in. whatever you put in there will be what appears in the playlist

Ok got it working by physically renaming the files with a number to get the play order, then removing that number in the metadata editor to avoid double numbering since the player has a default song number system 1,2,3 etc.
