There's is a setting on the right, bottom of the page, "Turn off thumbnails" that will turn them off.

For example
http://archive.org/search.php?sort=title&;query=%28collection%3ADriveInMovieAds%20OR%20mediatype%3ADriveInMovieAds%29%20AND%20-mediatype%3Acollection%20AND%20firstTitle:D

scroll down and look on the right side and click on "Turn off thumbnails"

Yep, as I posted:

"Ooops! OK-- it's not lower-right, but on the right-hand side!!"

It shows up at the "bottom of the page" only if your search has only a few items in it. Otherwise, it's on the right-hand side!

But no matter, it's there, and I've turned it off!
