the system will derive the other standard formats including ePub. Some require OCR which is at best inexact. If you have a good ePub you can upload that as well and the system will just not derive that format. original files are never deleted or modified.

Forgive me, I'm kind of new at this. How can I tell if my PDF has OCR already? If I can search within it, does that mean it has OCR?

OCR (optical character recognition) is software that will attempt to convert scanned pages into text format. If your pdf is searchable then it already has text and no OCR would be necessary. I'd suggest uploading the pdf, let the system do its work and see if the derived ePub is acceptable. If not you can always add your file to the item.

Also, do you know if my publication contains tables of data, will all the formatting behind them be lost when they are converted to various other file types? Is there any way for that to be preserved?

best way to know is to upload it and see. the software attempts to acknowledge columns but frequently fails. also, math equations and symbols are the enemy of OCR. upload and see what happens. it can always be removed at your request.
