Re: Problem with edits to pages - Changes to processing or new rules? |
Barring any unforeseen changes it looks like 60K is the character limit for future item descriptions. I can however fix the item you modified that where the text disappeared but you should do any more mods on it.
Can you please contact me at info@archive.org and we can work through fixing the item.

Re: Problem with edits to pages - Changes to processing or new rules? |
Jeff,
Thanks for looking into this. Also, thanks for the offer to fix the page. I appreciate your efforts.
However, I don't think I'll ask you to fix the page, in order to return it to it's previous form. I foresee a need to make small changes in the future.
Thus, in the mean time, I've altered the page to be acceptable , within the 60K character limit. There is one more significant change I'd like to do to the new format. The change would make the metadata description length about 58k characters. Unfortunately, when I first saw this problem, the description was truncated at 54,518 characters. On the other hand, you've mentioned about 60K characters as the limit. Do you have a more exact number, between 54,518 and 60K characters, such that perhaps 58K characters will work?
I'd test it myself with my change, but I'd need to upload 268 files to test it properly (adding a new thumbnail directory with a one letter directory name and uploading new thumbnail jpg files, with three letter file names, "xxx.jpg". Ultimately deleting the current longer named jpg's.). That's a lot of uploading for a test. If I'm asking too much for a better description length please say so and I'll do my test.
BTW, Will the processing have a problem with a sub-directory that has a single letter name (for example: "
http://archive.org/download/LibrivoxPlainVanillaCdCaseInsertsVolume2/T/001.jpg")?
Thanks,
