you can add them to an existing item with this clickpath from the item page:
Edit item > change the files > Share button > select the files > click Open > when they are done uploading click > Update item.
then from the item page:
Edit item > change the information > item manager > click the derive button.
You can select multiple files to upload when you initially create the item. Use your shift or command key to select all the files together that you want to upload.
