Re: Walt Disney's Comics & Stories - U want? |
hi,
Thank you for offering to preserve and share this collection. Certainly if you have metadata to include in the form of a file (csv is preferred) that would be fantastic as it helps people find the content.
Our address is:
Internet Archive
300 Funston Avenue
San Francisco, CA 94127
Attn: Jeff Kaplan
Thanks so much.

Re: Walt Disney's Comics & Stories - U want? |
Even as a flight line experimental avionics tech< I am ignorant of a LOT of stuff.... like:
metadata?
csv file format?
What I got are almost (+/- 2) 700 comic book issues in cbr and cbz format.
I have copied the entire collection onto 4 dvd disks. Any dvd reading disk toaster (I tink) will be able to read and txfr the lot onto your archives... to share with the world.
' been a bit busy lately with work, conventions, and geriatric infirmities but I'll put these into the mails soon.

Re: Walt Disney's Comics & Stories - U want? |
Metadata is just another word for information. Ideally we would get it in some digital form. Titles, authors, illustrators, date of publish, tag words, etc. are all used by our search engine to help people find things they are interested in and discover things they weren't aware of. csv (comma separated value) is simply a text file that uses the commas in it to delineate where the next column of information would start as in a spreadsheet.
Thanks for your contribution. I look forward to add to the archive to preserve and share it.

Re: Walt Disney's Comics & Stories - U want? |
Well wish us luck... I sent off the package yesterday to the address as mentioned on/in a previous post ... Atten: Jeff Kaplan
Now this is coming from Georgia and via the USPS. you should get sometime around Easter, maybe? Well a realistic expectation should be an arrival by the weekend of the 17th.
After about issue #379 the 1st story begins repeating a previous issue #.. ergo - TWO issue numbers.
For example:
WaltDisney'sComics&Stories--380-223-(Vol 32 No 08)-May 1972.cbr
Means that issue #380 has the same 1st story as issue #223.
Hope you don'e hafta change much in the labeling system when they arrive.
Oh, I really hope you folks can put these up for the rest of the world to enjoy.

Well, 's been four days.... Yellow bubble envelope with a special five disk cas holding four DVD's upon which are the 698 issues?
Hooo, boy. Let's hope that they didn't get lost in the mails - literally... which considering the USPS isn't so far fetched.

Re: Walt Disney's Comics & Stories - U want? |
Absolutely...
I musta have really been interested in those comics as a yout 'cause I still remember some of the plot lines as I look over those issues that woulda been in the subscription I had when I was 8 or 9 years old.
Sure enough, there was the story of the contest between the Junior Woodchucks an the Chickadees and then there was the story where Donald an taken over a bakery... A pie big enough to hold 24 Junior Woodchucks for some special banquet? The Ice taxi using a motor attached to a sofa.
Good as gold and better.

Another point of interest on these comics... Get a load of the prices! For the first 2+ decades every kid (jus' 'bout) could afford 'em.
then we lookit the prices in the 80's - WOW.
With all the other entertainments available, who in their right mind is going to spend $8+ for a COMIC Book?
Enjoy

Re: Walt Disney's Comics & Stories - U want? |
Hot Dog! There they are. Available for the world to share.
A few are marked as failed but that's 'cause the .cbz extension SHOULD be .cbr (my fault actually).
AND to fill up the last disk of the collection I included some comics that are already elsewhere on AI - -
But other than that - WOW
What a BARGAIN. Although they aren't in any order that I can discern, maybe folks could find an issue from the month in which they were born... Or um er recall an issue when they started a certain grade; or a special anniversary.
You wanna get the present youts into reading? HERE is an EXCELLENT opportunuity.... download an issue from their own birth month (not the year of course) for a present.
Enjoy
