Re: uploading |
Instructions for uploading new tapes of GD shows into The Archive's GD Collection:
a) d/l and install Trader's Little Helper free s/w; b) using TLH, create an
etree-Tracker-based torrent file for your new item - must be Lossless files only (FLACs preferred); c) go to the bt.etree.org web site, upload your new torrent file there, fill out their Upload Form accurately and completely, and seed your files there until it has seeded 100% of your files. Someone will come by and add your new item into the etree database at db.etree.org.
You will get your tapes added into the GD Collection using this method. This will happen the next time the GD volunteers upload some more new shows (usually every few days or so).
resources for uploading your uncirculated GD tapes:
•
Trader's Little Helper free s/w•
uTorrent client free s/wuTorrent is the best - it's my BT client

• bt.etree.org - Make sure you follow etree's Seeding Guidelines

Etree.org manages "much" of the Trade-Friendly music that gets donated from the community into the Live Music Archive. If I understand things correctly, etree manages "all" of the tapes in The Archive's GD Collection. Everything is handled by "special volunteers". The Seeding Guidelines document takes you through each step of preparing your GD tapes for proper distribution as FLAC files. Following these steps:
• Quality Control
• DAT Transfer or DAE
• CD Tracking and correcting Sector Boundary Errors)
• Naming Standards
• Compression and Fingerprinting
• Creating an Info File
• Circulation (uploading, listing in ShnDatabase)
Etree's Policy
"Quality is very important to the members of the etree community. Before you seed a show, please consider this question: "Is this the best possible source?" A copy of a show may circulate to hundreds or thousands of people over time, each of which will spend time and money sharing, burning, and listening to a show - so it's a very bad idea to put an inferior seed into the trading pool. Do some Quality Control."
(Not to mention, people will flame you if you don't follow these seeding guidelines for GD.)
So now all The Tape Collectors reading this can see that etree "already has a position and a policy in place" that reflects my own reasoning for not circulating my 1973 Roosevelt Stadium tapes for "The Collectors" out there. I would get flamed for violating etree's (and The Collectors') policy!
"My conclusion about my uncirculated GD AUD.fob masters that I taped on July 31 and Aug 1, 1973 is that these tapes sound weird to me, compared to the other sources."
