Re: Internet Archive, SOPA and Ron Paul |
Unfortunately many Democrats in southern California helped draft it, Hollywood, the entertainment industry will keep trying until it inevitably succeeds just as they have with perpetual copyright extensions. Northern California, where Wikipedia and Internet Archive are located, is in the opposite camp, it's an interesting culture war north and south.

Dudeman,
Where did you find that piece, it is interesting to see what the Democratic party stood for in the past.

University library.
BTW -- I should correct myself, it was Lamar Smith R-TX, who introduced SOPA, not Conyers

Re: Internet Archive, SOPA and Ron Paul |
Well not to take sides (I'm personally a Democrat), just saying on this particular issue, a few Democrats in southern California helped sponsor the bill, because they were brought into office with the support of Hollywood businesses, but most Democrats, including Obama, do not support the bill, while many Republicans support the bill. It's not a black and white Dem/Rep, it's moneyed special interests vs. common people.

Re: Internet Archive, SOPA and Ron Paul |
Obama veto'd it right? I can't imagine he would flip-flop on the issue. I think (so far) that Ron Paul gets my vote
