Re: Terms of Use Question |
While we do like people to visit our site because they often discover things they might not otherwise, we are happy to serve to other sites or browsers. As much of the content is not curated you should be aware of potential rights issues so a mention that following the Internet Archive Terms of Use is important to the end user. Providing a link to the ToU page (
http://www.archive.org/about/terms.php) would be appropriate.
Also keep in mind that collections such as etree/Live Music Archive are explicitly intended for non-commercial use.
Also it may be relevant to know that files are occasionally shuffled among servers for housekeeping purposes. In order to keep links from breaking a permanent link can be created by substituting the explicit server info in a url with
http://www.archive.org/download/ so a url to a files would be
http://www.archive.org/download/{itemidentifier}/{targetfile}.
If you need additional information I'd suggest taking this offline and sending an email to infoATarchive.org.
Thanks.
Jeff
