You need to do two operations; (1) add files, (2) re-derive.

Here are the click paths to follow from the item page:

1. Edit items > change the files > Share > locate your file > click Open > Update Item

2. Item Manager > derive

I am unable to go to the add item page because it says "item does not have metadata"

Tried a rederive earlier, hoping it wqll clear this up

i just access that page with no problem. try clearing your cache by using this entire url (including the entire &reCache=1)

Cool, but that isn't the problem. I can access that page fine.

When I click on edit item > I want to change the files in my item >

it brings me to a page saying "Item does not have metadata."

ah, unfortunately this will take some patience on your part. it is on a disk that is being rescued and that could take days, sometimes weeks. i have no eta on when it will be back so i'd just suggest trying again periodically.
