Since it was published in 1960 (and assuming there is a Copyright notice in the book), it required renewal at some point to remain in copyright. The free online renewal databases I think are generally pretty accurate/reliable. But if you really want to be sure, you can pay someone to research it. This page has some ideas how to go about it.

I have found a lot of stories and novels even from the 50s and early 60s by fairly famous authors that are now in the public domain, and that is why I thought this particular book might well be out of copyright also. I will look into it.
