Thanks for the report on the iPad.
I use the Kindle DX for reading IA PDF's. Like the iPad, the Kindle can't read native IA PDF, so I download the DjVu and convert it to PDF on my computer. There are freeware tools to do it, I posted links a while back, click on my name and search for a previous post made by me with "Kindle" in the Subject header, about 9 or 12 months ago.
I checked out the iPad in the store and thought the screen was too small, I'm used to the 9.7" Kindle DX which is basically the same size as a normal book page, which is great for displaying scanned books. The iPad was also heavy. I've been very happy with my DX although I would not get the 6" Kindle, much too small, the jump from 6" to 9.7" is like going from a 12" to 19" monitor. I look forward to color e-ink to get the full effect of scanned books.
