Many copyrighted books on IA |
I just came across a whole bunch of scanned books that are copyrighted. For three of them, I did a "Report Errors", but too many to report them all manually. They are scienceofculture00whit, patternsofcultur00bene and forestpeople00turn
It's easy to verify by looking at Google's renewal records database (a web interface:
http://renewalrecords.urbanpug.com/). Does Internet Archive check for copyright status? It would seem an easy and necessary step to check Google's renewal records database for books published between 1923-63.

Think about it like this: a few generations ago our forebares disregarded prohibition even though it was written into the constitution. When the British put a tax on tea, the colonist started smuggling it in behind their back. We have a long tradition of ignoring laws when they cease to make sense. History will absolve me...,er, us, I mean people who don't scrupulous obey current cp laws and GATT
