This is a good idea (P2P solutions). Duplication is the best form of preservation.

The thought has occurred to me of downloading a copy of every book (half-million or so) but then I did the calculations and it would still be an exspensive proposition - although in 5 years with the cost of disk space going down it won't be so costly for a home user to have a local copy of the entire archive. Another idea, if it could be legally done, would be to sell the archive packaged on a RAID system. This should be a familiar business model for IA.
