Would it be possible to have the authors name (on the book description page) link to show all works by the author?

True, one can search by entering

"creator:author name AND mediatype:texts"

but I'm afraid most people don't know how, or it's just one step beyond the casual user. What happens is one book by an author gets attention from an external link and lots of downloads, but no one looks at the other works available on IA. An author link would help people more easily discover other books and it seems like an easy feature to add.
