will continue. florida, thursday, friday, saturday there were five polls, governor romney led in four out of five. ohio, governor romney is there a couple of points behind, one or two points behind in the recent polling. this was a state that president obama's campaign was saying not long ago was comfortablely in double digits and a big lead for president obama and even they admitted it's a horse race. they dramatically increased their television in ohio in the last week in order to muscle up in a state that not long ago they said was settled and over and done. >> specifically our fox news polling on friday did give the advantage to governor romney in florida. three-point advantage remaining for the president in ohio. we see the number close up. it's tighter than it's been. what has to happen? you mentioned ads are up, spending is up for romney in ohio. what do they do to peak at the right moment? is it possible, with the data we have, to win ohio? >> sure, sure it is. ohio's up for grabs for both camps. the quality of the closing message for each side will matter. both sides are grapplin

for the governor in that state. take a look at florida. similar story. governor romney leads the president with 51% to the president's 46%. a 5-point lead in a state in which rasmussen had a 4-point lead earlier in october which was neck and neck. in virginia. 50% for governor romney. the path trailing with 47%. joining me now, scott rasmussen of ross musen reports. what do those numbers tell us about the impact of the presidential debate in hempstead, long island. >> mitt romney had a big gain after that first debate. the president had a much better performance in the second debate in long island but it look like all he managed to do was stop the bleeding. the numbers are not shifting back in his direction, they are holding steady. the fact that florida and virginia -- richmond any increased his lead in each of those states is indicative of a very close race. we see the same in some other battleground states. megyn: mitt romney needs florida and north carolina and virginia to win the presidency. what he really needs is ohio. you are continuing to show that race neck and neck. >> barack obama up a

on your screen include ohio, florida and virginia. the poll has mitt romney pulling ahead of the president by four points among likely voters. perhaps the bigger takeaway is how the candidates rank among likely women voters in the same battle ground states. it shows mitt romney pulling almost even with the president, trailing by one point, well within that margin of error. unlike two weeks ago when the president went sight seeing at the hoover dam the day before his debate in denver, yesterday mr. obama made no public aernest pas, staying behind closed doors at debate camp in williamsburg, virginia. with mitt romney also lowing lay during debate prep in boston, the wives of the candidates reached out to voters on the eve of debate. ann romney in pennsylvania, the first lady of the united states spoke to supporters in ohio. >> i know no debate is ever the same. it will be fun to watch be maybe more fun for you than for me. but one thing i know for sure, mitt's prepared. mitt's confident. mitt's got a good presence about him and mitt's running because he believes in america. >> this morning,

but a 10 point shift for obama with the women voters in florida. romney gets an 8% bounce. obama takes a 10% hit. >> and in the buckeye state, again here with women, take a look at this. again, a shift. from september, president obama 57%. now 49%. so these are post debate polls showing you how important those debates were for women. and we'll have -- because we don't have full full polls yet from the debate this past week where women's issues came up much more prominently than they did the first debate there was no women's issues discussed during the first debate. that was a big criticism during that first jim lair debate. >> we have our own two feisty and high powered women coming up tara and angela to talk about what women's issues really are. the gallup poll did throw that into question as we heard so long it's the economy and jobs in that poll it said abortion was number one. >> now, let's take a look at this. this is the important map and important map right now. >> getting wonky. >> i love these weird. >> i love when you get this excited. >> this is the first time that romney has now

, the president in virginia, mitt romney in florida. otherwise they'll be under lock and key. the format, they'll be sitting around the table. the questions will come from the moderator, no audience. >> we're looking at polls very carefully, especially when it comes to the swing state. you've got some new polls? >> two polls that came out last night. take a look at these, this is from nbc/wall street journal. let's start with iowa. the president with an 8-point lead there. on this poll, this was conducted both before and after tuesday's presidential debate. so half before, half after. go to the next one, wisconsin. another important state, the state where paul ryan comes from, a 6-point advantage for the president there. this was conducted half before and half after. one thing from those polls, it indicates a gender gap with the president having a big advantage among women and mitt romney with an advantage among men. ashleigh? >> let's throw up that gallup daily tracking poll that has romney ahead by 7 points. it's important to look at those dates, right? >> which means it was conducted almost

at the map the best opportunities for mitt romney right now florida, virginia, colorado, new hampshire. that is based on the polling and discussions with both of the campaigns. i think the toughest ones and the best opportunities for the president, wisconsin, iowa, wisconsin, nevada. new hampshire is obviously incredibly competitive. i put that initially into mitt romney, but i do not know, i think it could go either way. >> florida, virginia and colorado to mitt romney. wisconsin and iowa and nevada to president obama is still comes down to ohio to determine the winner. >> based on that scenario, if you give all of those states to mitt romney, if the president wins wisconsin, new hampshire and ohio, you get to 269. i want a constitutional question the next day whether we should get rid of the electoral college. guest: we will definitely get .he question host caller: i have a major complaint. i watched the show every week, and there is a major problem going on with the company that bain capital and mitt romney own. they have laid off almost 200 employees. as we speak, jobs are being ch

he's doing his foreign policy debate prep this weekend. florida is to romney what ohio is to the president. it's a state that the campaign believes they are going to win, but also view as a must-win. it's not an accident that for the first time romney is doing his debate prep in a swing state rather than at home. they'll prepare in del ray beach near west palm. on monday night the candidates will clash once again on the administration's handling of the september 11th attack in benghazi. and this morning the associated press has been reporting that will drive that debate. the cia station chief in libya reported to washington, the cia in washington -- probably more accurately mcclain, that within 24 hours of the attack there was evidence it was carried out by militants not as a result of a spontaneous mob as susan wright asserted five days later. what is unclear is who saw this cable outside of the headquarters at the cia and even how high up in the agency itself was the information transmitted. but it adds yet another piece to this puzzle. last night the president made h

states. in florida you can see here mitt romney has passed president obama in a cnn-orc poll. 49% of voters say they will vote for romney. 48% of the president. that's 1% difference, and it's well within the margin of error. heading north of ohio noticed, fox news poll found a similar split in the buckeye state. president obama, you see there, in the lead of 46% of likely voters. mitt romney with 43%. and paul ryan campaigning in that swing state getting a warm reception before speaking at a rally in belmont. the republican candidate is taking on the traditional v.p. role of attack dog. here he is earlier saturday in pennsylvania telling an audience why they should not vote for the president. >> president obama four years ago when he was running for president said if he had no fresh ideas, use stale tactics to scare voters. if you don't have a record to run on, paint your opponent as someone people should run from. make a big election about small things. that's what he said when he ran for president four years ago. that's exactly what he has become now that he is president, and h

both florida and virginia now going for romney in the sunshine state 51%, 46%. in the commonwealth, it's 50% to 47%. but in ohio, a new fox news poll says obama is leading by 3%. 46%, 43%. that's a four point improvement in the buckeye state for romney since september. with us now to analyze where we are in the presidential race, fox news host mike huckabee. first of all, let's take the dinner. >> okay. >> bill: you have a pretty good sense of humor. >> i try. >> bill: on your program playing the banjo or ukelele. >> base guitar. i hope you know the difference between a banjo and bass guitar. >> bill: it's funny when you are up there you don't take yourself all that seriously. i like that. that makes me feel good that even these guys as competitive as they are can get in there and have a few laughs, right? >> absolutely. i think everybody needs to see there is a human side that these are not just robots who run for office. i think we need more moments like that and less like some of these what i consider to be phony debates that are more like game shows than an honest forum where you a

's comes to who can handle the economy best, mitt romney is leading in florida. it matches his margin, seven points actually, goes well beyond that margin, and explains a great deal about his popularity here. not the case in ohio where the president has a slight advantage, both if the fox poll as well as who can best handle the economy. that dominated the debates up until this point, gave mitt romney the first boost in his widely acclaimed victory in the first debate, but hasn't pushed the needle in the last two debates, the vice presidential and second presidential debate. the next one is foreign policy. you can bet that mitt romney and the moderator bob schaeffer will questions about libya, and israel will be a big issue, and the relationship that the u.s. has with the jewish state. on a trip earlier this year, mitt romney made a quite to do about his longstanding relationship with benjamin netanyahu, characterizing it much stronger than president obama, who mr. romney throwing mr. netanyahu under bus, and refusing to have a meeting, etc. president obama has met with benjamin netany

. is florida romney red at this point? >> we like the way florida is going. we always predicted it would go this way. two things have happened over the last couple of weeks. one, the american people have seen romney up close offering his vision of the future and what he would do as president. but more startling is the president's complete failure to put forth an agenda for the next four years. if you look at his statements over the last 72 hours or last two weeks, he doesn't talk about the future. he doesn't talk about his governing plans. it's all attacks on mitt romney. and i think you saw the numbers a moment ago. i think they'll only get better on the republican side both locally and nationally as we go forward. >> in "the new york times," exclusive reporting about iran. this is "the new york times" lead this morning. it is u.s. officials say iran has agreed to nuclear talks. the united states and iran have agreed in principle for the first time to one-on-one negotiations over iran's nuclear program, according to obama administration officials, setting the stage for what could be a last
