security force called the 17th february brigade. former u.n. ambassador john bolton. >> it is the responsibility of host governments to provide security for all diplomatic establishments. from the u.s. point of view we have to recognize that some countries are better able to do that than others. when you are in a high threat environment we have to do what is necessary to protect our personnel on the ground. >> bret: there is more security at is what called the annex, a mile away. based in tripoli and moving around the country is a department of defense site security team. february 12th, 2012, lieutenant colonel wood who joined the utah national guard after two decades in personality forces arrives in libya as the new commander. >> it had 16 members zbloobtsd what did they do? >> site security operations that had extra skills. >> bret: could a team that small make a difference? >> caliber of individuals on the team were the best in the united states inventory. they could make a difference in any fire fight. >> the problem that sst is slated on end the tour by summer's

. the u.n. has declared 2012 the international year of the cooperative because of their proven ability to give every day people control over their economic destiny. we have a vibrant co-op seen -- scene in the bay area. san francisco can do more to support them through the cooperative model. the main reason we're here today is because this new economic mode calls for new policies. i encourage you to check out policies for a shareable city to see the implications policy was for this new economy coming in with different services. some things we covered our house parking and zoning regulations do not really account for car sharing and parking sharing. hotel regulations are outmoded for new businesses. food and restaurant regulation does not fully accommodate the amazing food sharing in san francisco. we believe it would be a mistake to hastily applied 20th- century relations to new 21st century -- to the new 21st century economy. as the mayor said, new research and dialogue are needed. that is why the sharing economy working group and the panel today make so much sense. i want to add one

twerp from the moddle u.n. would say. that's why i'm giving a big tip of my hat to the conservative evangelical group american family association for seeing through this plan. >> this year the program though is being targeted by the american family association, a conservative evan gel call group saying the project is this, a quote nationwide push to promote the homosexual lifestyle in public schools. >> stephen: exactly. oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, wake up, everybody. mix it up day promotes the homosexual lifestyle. it's adam and eve, not adam and dweeb. it's a devious plot. get kids to learn that despite our outward differences in our hearts we're all pretty of the same. that leads to open mindedness, which leads to open pantedness. and the next thing you know, timmy and bobby are making monkey butter. that's the pc term these days. that's the term you are supposed to use. (laughter) i understand. now no surprise, mix it up day is the brainchild of the far left southern poverty law centers teaching tolerance program. which puts its homosexual agenda right there in the logo. i means

, from the secretary of state, u.n. ambassador, anybody on my team would play politics or mislead when we lost four of our own, governor, is offensive. that is not what we do. that's not what i do as president, that is not what i do as commander in chief. >> colbert: okay, okay, obama landed a good punch, but then romney asked the president the question that would change everything. >> i think it is interesting the president just said something which, which is that on the day after the attack he went into the rose garden and said this was an act of terror. >> that's what i said. >> you said in the rose garden the day after the attack it was an act of terror. it was not a spontaneous demonstration? is that what you are saying. >> please proceed, governor. >> i want to make sure we get that for the record because it took the president 14 days before he called the attack in benghazi an act of terror. >> get the transcript. >> he did, in fact, sir. so let me call it an act of terror -- >> can you say that a little louder, candy? >> he did call it an act of terror. >> colbert: no, no, no, no,

at the u.n. of all places. >> that is whether they said, candy joins team obama. >> jim is head of the conspiracy theory. but if you shift the subject as rick said and jim was saying, and you agree. if you switch it from a question of semantic disagreement as opposed to the real questions which will be asked on monday as why there was such terrible security there. why was there no back up response team? what was the intelligence? why on 9/11 did you leave these people so exposed? this is what the american people want to know. >> and toby from the daily mail did the work. he interviewed the mother of sean smith. she said, listen when obama says it's not optimal what happened in libya. she said my son is dead. that the kind of emotion and reality stepping back from word play and transcript ambushing, who is actually focusing on what is going on. >> there was talk before the debate that candy crowley would be allowed to ask follow-up questions. nobody talked about her being a fact checker. >> she said from the beginning she never signed an agreement agreeing to the rules. >> they a

his u.n. ambassador goes on five shows -- not one, five shows -- and spins a tale about demonstrations, pontaneous out video that becomes a viral. there is no demonstration, and nobody outside, no riot. this is a deliberate terror attack. it was not only members of his team who misled the nation. it is obama himself. he took credit for calling it a terror attack on day one. here he is a week later, letterman asked about it and saying "we don't know, we are still investigating." everybody knew at that time that the videoad nothing to do withhe benghazi attack, zero. he misled dramatically, repeatedly, he and his team. that is hanging out there and romney has a chance to hit it out of the park on monday. it could be a relief py -- re ally pyrrhic victory. >> charles, sadly is wrong, for the following reason. you have to subscribe to a great master conspiracy theory for an administration that has not demonstrated the capacity for running a two-car funeral that often that this would be so well organized and constructed and stupid to put the ambassador on the five shows to be corrected. this

hasn't the president, vice president and secretary of state and ambassador to the u.n., why aren't they proactively asking what can we do to secure the facility in benghazi. you had flags from al qaeda flying over government buildings. then the excuse afterwards has been con voluted at best. >> to jason's question, why do you think they didn't react proactively, had this information and intelligence, why do you think they didn't react. >> i'd like to ask congressman chaffetz when given the opportunity to vote for more security he voted for half a billion dollars. there's a lot of rhetoric. when you were given an actionable task, you could have voted for that money president obama requested he voted against it along with republican majority. he voted to cut a half a billion dollars out. >> your response. >> over the past five years the state department budget has grown by nearly 100%. when asked directly in our hearing, we asked charlene lamb in charge of this, was the reason you didn't give more security assets to the facility in benghazi because of funding? she said no. that's a

out of his way to say it was a terrorist attack. the president himself went to the u.n. several weeks later, still talking about the tape. they were talking about a demonstration that was never held. i would expect the president to say on september 12th, this was a terrorist attack. but to ignore the fact that al-qaeda affiliates from that region, there had been terrorist attacks before, to me, this was politics at its worst. >> you've accused the administration of telling misleading stories and contradicts stories and to be fair, administration officials did talk about the movie being to blame. they did say the attack wasn't premedicated and were at least inconsistent on the word, terror. rudy giuliani said this wasn't the result of confusion, incompetence, i'm going to quote him, sounds like a cover up. would you go that far? >> yes, i would. i'm not saying this is a criminal cover up. this is a political cover up because it went against the president's narrative. he could not acknowledge there was a terrorist attack because he had been trying to say al-qaeda was defeated, when in m

in particular to say i have my wealth. i can use it. i'm not dependent either on aid or u.n. development projects, pre-existing power centers. i can create my own mechanism to change society. >> yes exactly. we have to talk about that. people don't like to because philanthropy sounds like pure good but you have to examine what is going on. >> eliot: interesting book. thank you for joining me tonight tonight. why not score like the boxing matches. coming ahead on few "viewpoint." of the presidential debate. with unrivaled analysis and commentary. >> you're going to hear that used as a major talking point. to the tv appearances made by the u.n. ambassador susan rice on sunday, september 16. in which, she pressed the idea now discredited that the benghazi murders were not premeditated but grew out of a protest that spun out of control. ambassador rice also spoke about the precautions taken before 9/11. >> the security personnel, the state department thought were required were in place. >> clearly that judgment turned out to be wrong. fox news learned that the coming hours will bring significant new details about the state department pre9/11 security decisions in benghazi from house lawmakers, bret, who have been reviewing classified documents in this case. >> bret: we'll follow all of that. thank you. please join me for a special look at the libya terror attack friday night. a one-hour presentation, "special report" investigates death and deceit in benghazi. it can be seen tomorrow at 10:00 p.m. eastern. so set the dvr. the clock many in washington hear ticking louder every day is countdown to the end of the year and what is the fiscal cliff. it's fast approaching. chief white house correspond

, by iran. iranian president mahmoud ahmadinejad has been doing lots of saber-rattling, speaking at the u.n. recently, making lots of noise. that's a big issue, too. in the upcoming debate, you'll hear foreign policy through its entirety, not viewed as one of mitt romney's strong suits. he's argued that the entire campaign should be focused on jobs and the economy so he could speak about his own performance in the private sector. a big test for mitt romney. after all that happens, whether foreign policy can have a direct effect or not, the polls are tied, tied in the battleground states. there's a surge for mitt romney in virginia and florida, climbed back into a tight race in ohio. out west of the mississippi, polls suggesting things have shifted back to president obama and democrats in iowa, colorado and nevada, and that's why mitt romney plans to go there after the debate next week to do a little bit of firewall back-filling to make sure he gets the key battleground states west of the mississippi right there in toss-up, if not leaning toward romney. jamie? >> campaign carl cameron. carl,
