EXCELLENT
Animation wise, this is better than a lot of stuff that the critics like.
I'd recommend this to fans of bright colours.

Great!
OK, So Terrytoons are low budget for their time, But a low-budget 40's cartoon still has better animation than most cartoons on FOX! Actually, This cartoon is pretty funny, Unremarkable, But enjoyable. The main problem is the picture quality, which is quite poor (It's obviously transfered from an old VHS tape). Overall I give it 4/5.

Better than Family Guy
This review concerns only the quality of the animation itself.
It speaks well for this period of animation that Terrytoons were considered roughly the worst studio, yet put out work of this quality. Whilst it's certainly not Disney, it's much more fluid than many more recent cartoons. The barely-animated Family Guy, for example.

That "Other" Animated Mouse
There's not much to be said for Terrytoons, they were a bargain-basement outfit from the beginning. One example of this here is the use of public-domain tunes like "Merrily We Roll Along" and "Red River Valley" in the musical score, a cost-cutting measure and nothing else. Columbia Pictures also used "Merrily We Roll Along" as the title tune for their 1940's Buster Keaton two-reelers, and for exactly the same reason.
You'll also notice that Mighty Mouse saves only one lamb, rather than the whole flock (as shown at the beginning and the end), which was another way of keeping the cost of the production down.
Pretty poor stuff, but there's one funny moment, when the wolves' old shack suddenly sprouts all the armament of a battleship! Too bad the rest of the cartoon isn't as creative.

Slow day, Mr. Mouse?
Pretty lame Mighty Mouse cartoon here, which details how it saves a sheep from a pack of wolves. One of the wolves dresses up as Little Bo Peep to try to attract one of the sheep (but is never said to be a Wolf in Peeps clothing tsk!) and it looks bad for the sheep until Mighty Mouse arrives. Now why the mouse would stop the food chain is anyones guess, but the results are ho-hum.

Wolf! Wolf!
The wolves are the real stars of this cartoon since the sheep are insipid and Mighty Mouse is his usual arrogant self. I like the opening shot of the wolves lying around amidst a sea of empty liquor bottles. Before you know it you're in a full blown cartoon saga with the seduction scene , the reveal and the obligatory flying dive bomb attack. There's some real good cannon action too. In later cartoons Mighty Mouse's character is more fully developed but in this one he's from squares-ville.

Here I come to...
Let me state at the outset that I've never been a real fan of Fox's Harveytoons. These cartoons, such as Little Lulu, Heckle & Jekyl, or Mighty Mouse, always felt like a pale imitation of Disney, MGM, or Disney cartoons.
"Wolf! Wolf!" is a case in point. A group of wolves try to seduce and eat a single lamb until Mighty Mouse is there to save the day. The problem is the wolves are set up as such an inept enemy and Mighty Mouse is so perfect, there is no tension. We don't really care what happens. This same problem would plauge most of the 1950s era Popeye shorts.
For the good points, there are some okay crossdressing wolf gags at the begining, but again, it's pale echo of what Bugs Bunny or even Woody Woodpecker would do. This also appears to be an early Mighty Mouse short, perhaps early 1940s, with only a narrator providing any dialog, and not giving the now famous "Here I come to save the day!" line.
Finally, about half way through the short, there was either a problem with the video source or the telecine, as the picture breaks up and goes to black for a few moments. The break appears to be analog in nature, so a problem with the source. Also, the original credits are missing, replaced with perhaps a 1960s era reissue/syndication title card.
