OneWebDay is a global celebration of the collaborative, participatory nature of the web that takes place each Sept. 22. The first OneWebDay was celebrated in 2006. Here's a video that tells the OneWebDay story.

To help celebrate OneWebDay, the Internet Archive is asking its partners, collaborators, and fans around the world to upload videos to the OneWebDay collection. The videos should relate to one or more of the following:

  • Show/describe/explain how the internet has changed lives around the globe
  • Provide histories of personal involvement with the emergence of the internet around the world. Who in your town or region did something to make the internet more accessible? Who taught you how to use online resources?
  • What does the internet mean to you? How would you like it to change the world in the future?
The web has changed the world in the last ten years; it's helped families keep in touch, helped people find jobs, brought news close to home, and on and on. Because the web is made of people, it's up to us to protect and defend it - and not take it for granted. The idea behind OneWebDay is to have an Earth Day for the internet.

Click to upload your video to the One Web Day collection! Select “One Web Day (Sept 22, 2007)” from the drop-down menu titled “—Pick A Collection—” before you click “Upload Files”.
