The old and new sheild
A fun season 1 episode 1.
One of the only episodes in all the radio & TV shows that did not start with "The Big".
As to the closing shield being wrong or with an eagle. That was still a good shield at the time the show was done.
The show extols the virtues of the new city hall "built to last". LAPD was in the process of issuing new shields with the new city hall on it.

Explosive finish
Suspense filled drama with some action. Character actors Barney Phillips and Jack Kruschen are also in the cast.

good show
I remember the old time radio show eppasode. After a minut or so of the program, that's when I knew that it was the tv vertian. I still just couldn't help but watch it though. I was in suspense even though I have listened to the OTR eppasode. I wasn't fully aware of what was going on during the plann though. I am totally blind, so I couldn't get a full picture of what was going on in my mind. It was still a good eppasode.

Early suicide bomber
A small time crook walks into the City Hall with a bomb and demands his brother be released from jail or else. Friday, Ben and Thad Brown try all manner of different strategies to get the bomb off him.
Eventually they do get him and pack him off to (Where else) the Superior Court, where he's found to be mentally incompetent and sent to the "State Mental Institution for the Criminally Insane".
Also note that the badge shown at the end is not the normal one but has an eagle on it.
