Windows dedicated server, srcds failure
I'm trying to run a dedicated server with srcds on windows, but its not working. I get many errors that say "Failed to load $include VMT file" followed by filenames. I checked the hl2 directory, and they are there. I tried to follow Az's directions on linux dedicated servers to no avail.
My srcds folder looks like: Code:
/hl2 Code:
.\orangebox\srcds.exe -console -game ..\sourceforts +map sf_canyon +maxplayers 16 |
Well, I think the error I was reporting was because I missed the 'episode1' install step. I fixed that, and got a server working (appearing on the internet list) for a few seconds. I couldn't connect because it said the server wasn't up to date, and now it doesn't appear in the list but I will keep on trucking and let you all know how it goes.

hmm have you modified your client? (modify your gameinfo.txt)
|
Yeah, the gameinfo.txt change fixed it. I followed http://www.sourcefortsmod.com/boards/277870-post37.html and that seems to have gotten me 90% there. I have a server, I can connect to it, and slams and nightsticks work. Now I just need to figure out why I have no skybox.

map restart fix skybox thing, thats just a bug thats been around.

Yup, I discovered that. Anyways, there is now a 24 person dedicated server running on my desktop machine. Some guys from So i had an idea.... : GameMods and Steam Community :: Group :: r/gamemods wanted to play. If that comes to fruition, I will post in the main SF forum. The more the merrier, eh?

played with you today, good to see some old sf action still going.
