New Players Read This
It was originally posted on http://sfmixedleague.com by Bob however when I read it, the win just oozed out of it and I realized it had to be posted here for all to see.
This is directed to all new players of SourceForts.

Don't take the easy route.
Anything you can do to challenge yourself more will help you improve. Play on the losing team and challenge yourself to help turn the tide of the game.
Say hi to the well-known players.
When you see some of the well-known players in your game, say hi and introduce yourself. We'll remember you more if you talk to us.
Keep using the same name.
Nothing will throw us off your scent like changing your name. Building your name recognition is important to us remembering who you are.
Be humble.
Most of the better plays have massive egos. Justified or not, that's how it is. Nobody likes someone who doesn't know their place.
Be a team player.
Nobody remembers who had the most frags on the scoreboard. We will remember players who were able to score that crucial touch or clear the midfield when we needed it.
Watch the best do what they do.
We might post some demos of this season's matches up on the site. Download them and watch how the big boys do their thing."

Personally I think this is almost perfect.
I'd like to especially point out the part at saying Hi. I myself have spent hours at a time helping new players who simply said "I'm new and not sure what to do. Can you help me please?". I've also helped some players I thought had potential get out of some shitty situations (like Gunnawin. <3). |
