I already forked this mod and redid it from scratch. There's little point to it, because people don't want to play SF 1.9.x anymore.

I'm not sure what was fun about SF 1.9.x. I guess it was all the douchebags, low lifes and trash talking, but that's about it. The game itself wasn't really that fun.

Feel free to prove me wrong

oh look, a douchebag talking about douchebags, he redid the mod from scratch using the old sourcecode, like a pro.

But yeah, I totally agree with Shattered, If you have a specific date (or even weekend) to invite people to play SF, feel free to post a thread on the forums. One advice I could give you before doing that, is try to have a few players already. You might even get some of the oldfags to come play for a little while, just for nostalgia.

And if you really think that you can organize an event, that will bring enough people to fill a 32-slots server, shoot me a message and I might put something up on SF's MODDB page.

having those kind of events should revive SF, but only for a few days. atm the mod is so broken due to HL2MP being ported to the new version of the Source engine.
and like Shattered said we would rather focus on SF2 than on the 1.9.x series.

I've got no problem with putting something on ModDB/Twitter/front page of the website if you guys want to organize something.

LF doesn't have any source from SF. Get your facts straight.

The physcannon was based on Sourcefort's, but I later had to rewrite it from scratch, because it was so buggy and wasn't integrating correctly with the mod.

There would be a reason we "veterans" don't play anymore. Pubs are generally to easy, pugs we wait an hour before we pick teams and then rage because it took to long, and or general boring gameplay after like 5 years of playing it. Just woke up so may be leaving a few dozen things out.
But we let it be dead because there are better(or more important) things to do now days.

Edit: Another thought is that when a "veteran" joins a game with someone who doesn't know all the ins and outs, the game loses all fun factor when that wall you just spent ten minutes building took two seconds to be jumped over or ripped down

Or the newer person gets flattened several times and leaves, being that the skill difference means they can't really do anything.

Ok, give me 2 weeks and I will try my best to scrap togaahter some players. Mostly people who have never played it tough, but that should not really matter, give me 2 weeks from now..


Just for my curiosity, if the game suddenly becomes very popular again. There will be a high demand very soon on fixing bugs and adding new features etc.. How willing are devs to really push for such a result that they continue to stay. I know I don't have much insight in how sf2 is going and all that. But just more in theory, should I be afraid to let some new guys down?

But ye, I will give the next 2 weeks a good shot!
