Oh come on. TCiaL is a bit fucking obvious.

Also: I don't have a Valve folder, it's installed in C:/Program Files/Games/Steam

Back when steam was first started, they had the installation directoy

c:\program files\valve\steam

but recently, they changed it to

c:\program files\steam

so if you ever reinstall steam, you will get the second path.

so if your using an installer, you gotta make it look up the steam installation path registry key to find the correct path.

You can easily use the Nullsoft installer. It's the one I used for Skin Chooser, and it's probably the best installer available if you're willing to either learn how to script it, or use wizards.

EDIT: Also, nice Ubuntu image.

When Nintendo gave me the download link, he told me he had used NSIS & edited the install process to automatically find the install directory, that the installer should work simply for anyone... does this mean people have had difficulty? or that questions were asked before an install attempt?

(I already had it, so I didn't use his installer- but NIN usually does quality work, and I'd like to let him know if people have trouble...)

Also, I had originally learned of steam when I installed HL1 from cd, it installed to /Valve/
When I tried multiplayer, I updated to steam and it moved everything to Steam/Steamapps/etc
after that I deleted the Valve folder with no consequence
